{"id":53,"date":"2011-10-03T01:43:10","date_gmt":"2011-10-03T11:43:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wentztech.com\/blog\/2011\/10\/03\/adding-natural-scrolling-to-my-ubuntu-laptop\/"},"modified":"2014-03-08T17:25:10","modified_gmt":"2014-03-08T23:25:10","slug":"adding-natural-scrolling-to-my-ubuntu-laptop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wentztech.com\/metalworking\/2011\/10\/03\/adding-natural-scrolling-to-my-ubuntu-laptop\/","title":{"rendered":"Adding Natural Scrolling to My Ubuntu Laptop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Having a iPhone, iPad, and magic pad on my iMac I have become to prefer natural scrolling when using any trackpad like device.<\/p>\n<p>To get it to work on my little Acer running Ubuntu I need to add a .Xmodmap file to my home folder with the following line<\/p>\n<p>pointer= 1 2 3 5 4 7 6 8 9 10 11 12<\/p>\n<p>So what is this doing?<\/p>\n<p>The numbers represent the buttons on your mouse.<\/p>\n<p>1 left button<br \/>\n2 right button<br \/>\n3 middle button<br \/>\n4 scroll up<br \/>\n5 scroll down<br \/>\n6 scroll left<br \/>\n7 scroll right<\/p>\n<p>So as you can see we have basically just reassigned the scroll button (wheel) assignments.<\/p>\n<p>There are lots of other things you can modify with the .Xmodmap file.
